VRChat Interactive World & Avatar Customisation
A scanned real-world room turned into a navigable VR home world, wired to real smart-home lighting
Role
Built and customised independently; some UdonSharp logic was written with AI assistance and then integrated.
When
Personal project / hobby
Tech
- Unity
- VRChat SDK

- Mobile 3D scanning
- Colliders
- Lighting
Personal Unity project: captured my room with mobile 3D scanning, imported the scene into VRChat, added lighting, extra floor geometry and colliders, then connected an in-world button to an external backend that controls Xiaomi smart-home lighting.
What I did
- Captured a real room with mobile 3D scanning and imported the scanned scene into Unity as the base of a VRChat world that I use as my regular home world.
- Converted room mesh geometry into collider geometry so the environment is physically navigable, and added lighting plus extra floor geometry.
- Implemented a button-triggered Udon interaction that calls an external backend, which in turn controls real Xiaomi smart-home lighting.
- Used Blender for avatar work — shape keys and mesh vertex edits, bones and weight painting — then configured bone-driven behaviour back in Unity.
Honest limitations
- Personal hobby scope: this is interactive 3D / VR world development, not commercial game-development experience.
- The smart-home interaction depends on an external backend service being reachable, so the button only works when that service is running.
